From the outside these buildings are hard to distinguish from the Khrushchev buildings – five-storey buildings built from bricks and some of the apartments have balconies. The biggest difference is in apartment layout. Some buildings have loggias and exterior walls tend to be plastered. These buildings are located in Ķengarags, Purvciems, Āgenskalns, Teika and Jugla.
Brezhnev period buildings followed Khrushchev period buildings – layout of rooms was improved, rooms were isolated, toilets were separated from the bathroom with wall. Good sound insulation, better heat resistance than buildings built from panels, large windowsills.
